Even though our county is the smallest in England, we are overflowing with history, nature and beautiful photograph opportunities. ‘Multum in Parvo’ is our county’s motto, meaning ‘Much in Little’ which is very appropriate as Rutland has something to offer for everyone, much like Hog Roast Greetham’s menus. Our man-made lake, Rutland Water, is one of the main reasons Rutland is popular for bird-watchers, boaters, cyclists, walkers and tourists as it’s been claimed to be the UK’s largest man-made lake.

Summer in Rutland has a plethora of festivals and events, including ‘The Rutland County Show’ a traditional agricultural show judging produce, horses, vintage tractors and vehicles and livestock. ‘Uppingham Feast Day’ transforms the town of Uppingham to a whimsical street full of street entertainers, live music, craft fayres and street markets. But one of the most popular events by far, that pulls many people into Rutland from afar is ‘CAMRA Beer Festival & Ale Trail’ which is held at Rutland County Museum, Oakham. With more than 40 beers, perries and ciders and entertainment on offer!

Normanton Church is definitely a place that you have to visit if you are in the area, this beautiful church is the iconic image of Rutland. Originally named St. Matthews Church, it served as a parish church until the 1700s when the village was demolished and became as estate for the Heathcote Baronets and was then used as a private chapel for the family. Due to public outcry the church was saved once again from destruction after the area was flooded to make ‘Rutland Water’. The church is now a functioning museum recording the history of Rutland Water and appears to float on the lake when the reservoir is full.

Whether your event is being held at the Rutland Water Aqua Park (the UK’s biggest inflatable water park) or Rocks by Rail: The Living Ironstone Museum an industrial landscape of an ironstone tramway system, Hog Roast Greetham can provide our catering service to you.
