No matter what age you are, birthdays are a great excuse to throw a party and, if anything, they tend to get more special the older you get. Of course, some birthdays stand out more than others, particularly the ones that end in ”0”; and for good reason, too. Every decade is a landmark that should be marked accordingly, but none of them is quite as significant as the three-digit one: 100!
An entire century of life certainly isn’t something to be ignored, and even the Queen herself sends out special telegrams to those remarkable individuals who achieve this rare feat. In the UK, that’s around 23 people in every 100,000!
Because these birthdays are so rare, it’s not often we get to celebrate them at Hog Roast Cottesmore, so it was an exciting day when Gemma reached out to us with the intention of planning a well-deserved birthday bash for her mum, Flora.
Going all out, Gemma picked our Hog Roast Dining Experience menu, which includes a selection of canapés followed by two main course options, a meat-free dish and plenty of sides. Not only that but the meal is rounded off perfectly with a choice of two homemade desserts, which taste heavenly!
The party for Flora took place at a bespoke hotel close to our HQ, which made travelling a breeze for Byron, our catering manager, and the Hog Roast Cottesmore staff. They arrived at the venue with plenty of time to spare, and making every minute count, they worked quickly and efficiently to prepare the birthday spread.
With a choice of either spit-roasted whole English lamb with Yorkshire puddings and mint sauce, a whole-roasted free-range pig with all the trimmings or grilled veggie skewers, the guests had no trouble finding something to their taste. They also thoroughly enjoyed the salad, potato and coleslaw side dishes and the canapés, which offered a burst of flavour in one bite. For dessert, vacherins of strawberries with passion fruit cream were on the menu alongside light and creamy cheesecakes.
Hog Roast Cottesmore’s caterers did a marvellous job at this event and birthday girl, Flora, couldn’t have enjoyed herself more! Spending time with her family and friends and indulging in some beautiful food was the best way to celebrate her landmark birthday!
