The Western family meet every year with their extended family to host a summer party that doubles as a birthday celebration for several family members. The event is always something to look forward to and includes party games, entertainment, and a delicious meal. For the catering, the many changes every year, with the family voting on what they want to enjoy each year. For this year’s event, Hog Roast Normanton was hired to provide the catering, with the family choosing our alfresco menu. Our catering manager Byron was more than happy to get involved with this menu as our alfresco menu seemed like the ideal menu for this occasion!
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast Normanton team arrived at the Western family home, setting up our catering station in their back garden. The menu began with sharing platters, which was a delicious way to introduce our catering. The platters consisted of gourmet cheese, sliced meats, salad dishes, and fresh bread. The variety ensures that there is something for everyone to enjoy, which is always important for family events!
Following the starter, we served a slow-roasted hog for the main course. The hog was accompanied by sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, crispy crackling, roasted vegetables, and baby potatoes, to create a nutritious and varied main meal. There was plenty to go around and enough for everyone to load their plates.
To finish the menu, we served summer pudding and chocolate torte, with each dish served with English cream and berries. The desserts looked enticing and tasted as good as they looked.
