It’s often said that your wedding day is the happiest day of your life. But let’s not forget that planning a standard wedding is also considered to be one of life’s most stressful events. Why is this? Well, the reason differs for everyone. For some couples, it boils down to money (weddings can be very expensive!), but for others, the pressure to please everyone can leave brides and grooms putting other people’s happiness above their own.
For years, many couples have solved this problem by sneaking off to have their own private wedding. But for those who still want to tie the knot surrounded by loved ones and enjoy all of the typical wedding milestones without having to play guest-list politics and ensure their big day remains about them, there is another solution gaining momentum. Surprise weddings!
Just as the name suggests, surprise weddings are a surprise to everyone except the couple getting married. This gives brides and grooms the rare opportunity to plan their big day around their desires without feeling obligated to make others happy.
Of course, we wouldn’t be telling you all of this without cause. So, if you guessed that Hog Roast Wardley recently catered for a surprise wedding, you’d be right!
Colin and the Hog Roast Wardley gang were hired by Lisa and Ben to serve our Alfresco Hog Roast Menu at their wedding on Saturday. 80 guests attended the celebration, which they had been told was in honour of the couple’s engagement. Their shocked expressions when they realised that it was, in fact, a wedding were priceless!
Lisa and Ben were glad their guests took the news well, and no one was bothered about being left out of the plans. Everyone was just glad to see the pair happy.
Shortly after the vows were exchanged and the improvised toasts had been made, Hog Roast Wardley unveiled the buffet, which caused the guests’ eyes to light up. Without hesitating, everyone hurried to fill their plates with fork-tender pulled pork, crackling, stuffing and applesauce rolls with salad and potato side dishes followed by a choice of gourmet desserts. There was also the option of grilled vegetable kebabs for non-meat-eaters, and each table was centred by a delicious charcuterie board.
This relaxed and intimate affair was everything Ben and Lisa hoped it would be and more. They were especially grateful for Hog Roast Wardley’s involvement, which saw everyone bond over our delicious food!
