When creating a building as important as a community centre, it is a great idea to host an opening ceremony to draw in local people and to create intrigue around what you have built. No one can resist checking out a new local building, especially with incentives such as a delicious buffet lunch, games, and activities. At Hog Roast Lyddington, we have a variety of buffets that are ideal for the occasion, including this one…
Sarah is a community outreach officer located in Rutland and she works with local communities to plan ways to build connections and relationships with local people. Part of her job includes the creation of community centres across the county. When every new centre is first opened, the occasion is marked with a grand opening ceremony, which is a great way to build interest and to draw in new people to see what is going on. In preparation for an opening event, Sarah contacted Hog Roast Lyddington to arrange catering for the event. Our catering manager Colin discussed our variety of buffets with Sarah before it was decided that a classic hog roast would be ideal for the occasion.
On the day of the event, Colin and his team arrived at the community centre in advance of the 2:00pm opening time. We prepared for the lunch rush by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that it was cooked to perfection and packed full of natural juices and flavours. Alongside the hog, we also provided BBQ pulled jackfruit for meat-free guests. The mains were served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For the side dishes, we also provided a selection of salad options and homemade chips. Overall, our menu was a great addition to the event and had plenty for every guest to enjoy!
